Veterans Day Activities Planned Across Alabama

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – U.S. Rep. Martha Roby of Montgomery will be honored during Veterans Day activities in Birmingham.
Roby is scheduled to receive the Minuteman of the Year Award from the Alabama Reserve Officers Association at the National Veterans Day breakfast Tuesday in Birmingham. Roby successfully pushed for changes in leadership at the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care Center because of long delays and other problems.
Many other Veterans Day activities are planned across the state. Gov. Robert Bentley is scheduled to speak at Veterans Memorial Park in Tuscaloosa. Montgomery will have a parade downtown, followed by a concert of patriotic music at city hall. Huntsville is also holding a parade downtown. Mobile is planning a parade downtown and a concert by the Mobile Pops at the USS Battleship Alabama Park.
