Clearing Up Winter Weather Myths and Misconceptions

Colder air is moving in to the River Region.
But with the talk of cold or winter weather, comes a lot of misconceptions.

Chief Meteorologist Ashley McDonald helped us to sort those misconceptions out.
She says stay away from articles on the web that seem to make up words to sensationalize the weather.
And don’t trust sources that want to forecast how much snow an area will get months in advance.
As for what we are experiencing here, she says there is no need to worry.

“The cold air is not going to be here for the next 3 months. We’re not going to see snow blanketing 80 percent of the nation. It’s just cold for the next few days before we start to see the jet stream weaken just a bit. And we will get some more warm days before we see winter settle in,” said McDonald.
