Auburn Fans Still Hoping for a Shot at Playoffs

The stars truly have to align for Auburn to make the playoffs but stranger things have happened for this team. It may take another miracle but most fans are not ruling the playoffs out just yet.
With a loss to Mississippi State earlier this season and a shocking upset by Texas A&M last weekend, Auburn has two losses… is now ranked 9th in the college football rankings. They’ll need to work their way to the top four for a shot at another national championship. Some fans say the team is ready for the challenge.
“They’ve only lost two games this season so I’m pretty sure they can make it,” says Michael Barren.
And here’s what will have to happen for Auburn to make it…They’ll will need to win out, which may be difficult ..because they still have to play Georgia in Athens and Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Auburn will also need an undefeated Mississippi State to lose to both Alabama and Ole Miss. Preston Hornsby is the former president of the Montgomery Auburn Club and says Auburn’s defense will need to step it up.
“They are a slight underdog this week and they’ll be much bigger underdogs in Tuscaloosa,” he says. “But you know, Auburn has only stopped themselves. In Starkville, they turned the ball over. Last week against Texas A&M it was obvious there were unforced errors.”
Some fans say it’s something that CAN be done.
“I think it is possible but I don’t think there’s going to be another miracle like last year against Georgia,” says Madeleine Long.
Though others think it’s too late.
“I think that ship has sailed,” says Robert King.
