Auburn’s Goals Revised to Strong Finish

The Auburn Tigers are adjusting to life out of playoff and Southeastern Conference contention.

Two straight losses have left the 16th-ranked Tigers focused on improving a struggling defense and getting the normally productive offense going again. The goals set early in the year of winning a national title and repeating as SEC champions are out the window.

Quarterback Nick Marshall says that feels “dreadful because that’s what our whole goal was this year.”

What’s left for Auburn is a game against FCS Samford Saturday and a visit to rival No. 2 Alabama with a chance to improve bowl prospects and claim statewide bragging rights. It’s just not what they were hoping for at this point this season.

The Tigers have lost back-to-back games against Texas A&M and No. 9 Georgia.
