South Alabama Man Sentenced in Child Rape, Shooting

OZARK, Ala. (AP) – A south Alabama man convicted of raping a 12-year-old girl and shooting at a sheriff’s deputy has been given multiple life sentences.
The Dothan Eagle reports 51-year-old Billy Wayne Lomaneck of Skipperville was sentenced Monday on charges including rape and attempted murder.
Authorities arrested Lomaneck after a nearly weeklong manhunt that ended with a shootout involving a Dale County Sheriff’s deputy. Lomaneck was wounded, no deputies were injured and the sheriff said a police dog was killed.
Dale County District Attorney Kirke Adams says Lomaneck’s three life sentences will run concurrently.
