CBS 8 and ABC Montgomery are taking action against crime — a man accused of dealing marijuana and cocaine in several counties is now behind bars. This after authorities in Autauga County conducted a drug bust early this morning. It wasn’t the ideal wake up call for 31-year-old Ronald Huffman. He woke up to helicopters, police cars, tracking dogs… surrounding his home. Dozens of officers including the Autauga County Sheriff’s Office, Prattville Police, Department of Corrections and Alabama State Troopers conducted a search warrant inside the Billingsley home off County Road 1. They say they found about $150 dollars worth of marijuana and powder cocaine. Now, Huffman faces charges of illegal distribution of a controlled substance. “We’ve been working on this subject here, Ronald Huffman, for several months and it can go back to years, you know we’ve been knowing him for a while and had him under surveillance for a while,” Said Sedinger. Deputies say Huffman not only supplied drugs here in Autauga County, but also for Lowndes, Dallas, and Chilton counties. The amount of illegal drugs found may not seem like a lot, but Chief Sedinger says the number of customers that will be cut off because of Huffman’s arrest is the real win. “We think this may knock a pretty good dent in the cocaine and crack business here for a while,” Said Sedinger. Sedinger says it’s all a part of the county’s war against drugs. He says the sheriff’s office received several complaints of high traffic on the property. “There [are] drugs around here and it’s not really good for the kids around here because there’s a lot of kids that are actually in it,” Said Billingsley resident, Mary Middleton. Now people who live in Billingsley say they’re glad the alleged supplier is off their streets. Chief Sedinger says Huffman has children living with him. That means there could be some additional charges.
