Selma Man Hit and Killed by a Train

From the West Alabama Newsroom–   A pedestrian is hit by a train and killed in Selma.

Police say 52 year old Anthony Cornelius Mitchell of Selma was on the train tracks walking towards the approaching train.

They say Mitchell did not get out of the way and the train was unable to stop in time to avoid hitting him.

It happened at around 9:40 Friday morning near the J-L Chestnut Boulevard and Marie Foster Street.

Police say both of Mitchell’s legs were amputated below the knee an he later died as he being flown to the hospital.

They say the incident remains under investigation.
