Thanksgiving Traffic Expected to be Heaviest in 7 years

Wednesday is known as the busiest travel day of the year. Experts say it’s expected to be the busiest one since 2007.

An estimated 43 million drivers are expected to be on the roads over the Thanksgiving holiday.
That’s 4.2 percent up from last year.
While the day before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after seem to be the busiest days, Triple A spokesperson Clay Imgram says when you add in Black Friday and game day traffic, expect congestion on the roads for about a week. He says to plan your trip carefully.

“With the congestion we’re going to see out there, it’s going to take you longer to get from point A to point B than it normally does. So leave a good bit earlier so that you can kind of sit back and go with the flow, relax a little bit, take some of the stress out of that process,” said Ingram.

Lower gas prices are helping drivers out on the roadways this holiday. Ingram says there is a chance we may see prices drop even lower between now and mid-January.
