It’s the end of an era in Troy.

After 24 seasons, Head Coach Larry Blakeney took to his namesake field for the final time Saturday.

Even though the Trojans lost to Louisiana Lafayette, Trojan fans were out to support Blakeney.

This is his 292nd game leading the Trojans. And he’ll retire with the third most wins by a coach in Alabama.

Dennis Mitchell said, “Thanks for the memories coach. You did a good job. You are a winner not only on the football field but off the field you are a class act. We are going to miss you. Go Trojans.”

Tim Magee, been to more than 300 Troy games said, “And there will not never, as we say in Pike County, not never be another Larry Clinton Blakeney. The humanitarian the players coach. I could go on and on and on.”

It’s anticipated that the university will announce Blakeney’s replacement on Monday.
