Governor’s Mansion Opens for Candlelight Tours

Designers from across the state have volunteered their time to decorate the Governor’s Mansion and the neighboring Hill House for the candlelight tours. Monday night they welcomed the public to take a peek inside.
Each room in the mansion was decorated with a different theme.
The Governor’s Mansion is a 1907 Colonial Revival house located on South Perry Street in Montgomery and has served as the official residence for governors of Alabama since 1951.
Collier Tynes with Mrs. Bentley’s staff says it’s important for the Governor and the First Lady to open the people’s home to the people to enjoy.

“We have choirs from all over the state come and entertain the guests who arrive…. we have UMS Wright and Mobile’s children’s choir and others on the 8th and 15th as well, so it’s really fun for the guests to come see them,” said Tynes.

Gov. and Mrs. Robert Bentley will open their home for candlelight tours on the first three Monday nights in December from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are free of charge and available at the Governor’s Mansion Gift Shop located on 30 Finley Avenue across the street from the side entrance of the mansion.
