Majority of South Alabama Deputies already have Body Cameras
We reported yesterday that Montgomery County Deputies are testing out new body cameras but the majority of South Alabama deputies already have them.
Deputies in Butler County say they are ahead of the curve.
For the past four years Deputies in Butler County have used the body cameras… And so far they say it’s well worth the cost.
“one is cut down on the complaints from the citizens of the county, because they know they’re being recorded, and the other one is it helps keep officers honest too because he knows what he’s doing when he’s recorded. It migh not have his picture on there, bit it will have his voice on there and it’s his camera. So it keeps then on their P’s and Q’s” says Butler Co. Sheriff, Kenny Harden.
Administrators for the county are the only ones who have access to the footage… Just to make sure deputies and officers do not doctor or erase any video.
