Faith Matters: Christmas Season of Faith
From the West Alabama Newsroom– Christmas presents and Christmas parties are great ways to spread Christmas cheer — but a couple of church pastors in Selma say knowing the reason for the season is the only way to spread Christmas joy.
The streets and corridors in Selma are all decked out with holiday cheer. But while the town may look ready to celebrate Christmas some church pastors around town say Christ is their focus all year round.
“Christ is the reason for the season,” said Freedom Baptist Church pastor Rev. James Spicer. “He’s what its about.”
Mark Andrews is the administrative pastor at Crosspoint Christian Church.
“It’s really about the story of salvation and the gospel,” he said. “That started even before that, but came to life on that day at Christmas.”
