Healthcare Coverage Deadline Fast Approaching

We are now just a few days away from the deadline to sign up for healthcare.

Monday is the last day to get insured without facing penalties.

And some say things have been a lot simpler than last year.

This time last year healthcare.gov launched, plagued with glitches.

But this year some say things are much smoother.

And that’s helping workers at Health Services Inc get people covered.

“This enrollment period, people are more familiar with the market place. They’ve been exposed to more information and so many people have actually utilized their health insurance,” said Mary Ann Thornton, the program manager for outreach at Health Services Inc.

Thornton says she’s seen a lot of people coming through with questions about their healthcare.

With the deadline for coverage coming up on Monday, she wants to help get as many of those answered.

You can log on to the website yourself to purchase your new plan, but Thornton and others are available if you want help.

“But there are people who need a little more assistance and not only ones who can’t navigate through the computer system, but people who have more questions,” said Thornton.

Dr. Jefferson Underwood agrees that it’s important to get insured. Not only is it now the law to have some sort of plan, but it’s very important for him to provide the best care.

“You never know when you will need healthcare insurance. The most important thing about healthcare insurance is it not only helps with covering medical costs but it prevents financial catastrophic disaster,” said Dr. Underwood.

Monday’s deadline is to get coverage starting January 1st, but the open enrollment will continue through February.
