Family Loses Everything in Montgomery House Fire

A week before Christmas and one montgomery family is left homeless after their home burns down.

A fire broke out on Clovis Drive Saturday around 3 am. Blake Boyden says one of his dogs woke him up along with his wife.

“She comes back in ‘fire, fire, fire, fire!!’ Shakes me again. I finally get my senses together to get up and come outside,” said Blake.

The Boydens ran out of the house.
But their 2 dogs and 7 puppies were left inside.
Blake decided to go back in.

“I punched the window out, opened all the locks and ran through there, went towards my bedroom and pulled the dogs towards safety,” said Blake.

Meanwhile, his wife, April, went to get help from a neighbor.

“I ran down here with my t-shirt , pajamas, and house shoes. And then when I came down the house was engulfed in flames. I mean it was like bulging out of the windows and everything,” said neighbor Willie Williams.

The smoke was too much to handle. Blake made it out of the burning house with all of the dogs… but one that died in the blaze.

“It’s Christmas time and at this time it’s the season of giving. If anybody needs something, it’s this family. They got a newborn baby. Luckily, the newborn baby wasn’t at home,” said Williams.

Now the Boydens say they are counting the blessings that they do have.

“What I’m really thankful for is I got my little girl, my wife and thankful for life,” said Blake.

Blake says a space heater started the fire.
