Stewart Discusses Final Year As Bullock Co. Superintendent

After 12 years, the Bullock County school board will be looking for a new superintendent.Â
Â
In an exclusive sit down interview, Superintendent Keith Stewart talks about his decision to move on.Â
Â
He says the school system’s made progress but now it’s time for a change. Dr. Stewart says renovations to facilities, hands on career-building programs, and one-to-one initiatives with technology are some of the things he’s seen improve over the past decade.Â
Â
He’s also proud that the graduation rate has improved from 59 percent when he started to now above 80 percent.Â
Â
Keith Stewart, Bullock Co. Superintendent said, “If you say you’re good at what you do or you are the best at what you do, and we all may think that. but in the bullock co. schools you get a chance to prove it and do it for children who need it most.”
Â
Stewart says he and the board did discuss this two years ago, but ultimately this was his decision. He says teaching at the college level, working for a more urban school district, or retirement are all options he’s considering for next year.Â
