Scramble for Hot Ticket Gifts Heats Up

The busiest shopping weekend of the year is here. As people scramble to finish checking off their Christmas lists, not everyone can get their hands on the hot ticket items.
Managers at Target at Eastchase in Montgomery tell us children’s toys are hot sellers. The biggest sales include items from the movie “Frozen,” with many selling out early.
“We can’t find what we’re looking for. we need the big doll. We’re having problems finding some of it. That’s what we get for waiting til the last minute,” said Kathy Pouncy.
Robotic toys are also big this year. On the electronics side, game consoles are a bit hit. In fact, according to Target managers, toys and electronics are the hottest sellers of the season overall.
“This is where our main guest traffic is, everything’s focused back here, but yes, our top sales have definitely been in these two departments,” said Drew McDonald, executive team lead at Target.
Target says they’ve hired seasonal employees to help with the rush.
According to the National Retail Federation, the average person will spend about $460 on gifts for friends and family. That’s up 6.5 percent over last year.
