In the past year for Brundidge they’ve seen the addition of a new dialysis center, dollar store, and four new stores in downtown.
That’s great economic news for a smaller city like Brundidge. In the past several weeks there’s been two new places to eat and two stores added to the downtown area. Some of the business owners say they chose Brundidge specifically because of the small town feel.
Olaf Lieb, Owner Eeztec Solutions and The Hot Spot said, “My long term hope is that by creating a business that people will come to it’ll give them a reason to stay here, not necessarily to feel like they need to go to a bigger town to get what they can get here as well. And if that happens and people stay then creative people, or people that are business minded will probably start their own businesses here as well. So it kind of becomes a snowball effect.”
The mayor says the large manufacturers in Brundidge, like Southern Classic Food Group, announced big expansions this past year.
And in 2015 the city will invest more than $1 million in upgrades to their wastewater treatment plant to make sure they can accommodate future expansions.
