Union Springs Club’s License Revoked After Safety Concerns

A Union Springs club is without a business license after city leaders say enough is enough.
Both the city council and mayor say there’s been too many complaints of violence at the Express Lounge and Grill in the short time it’s been open.
In less than a year the mayor says gunshots fired and stabbings have been reported after arguments moved outside of the club. The council revoked the owner’s business license because of these safety concerns. The mayor says the club was also operating without a liquor license.
Saint Thomas, Union Springs Mayor said, “We have to abide by the law. The safety of our people are the most important things. They can come and have a good time and go home that night.”
The council told the owners they can come back to ask to reopen once certain changes are made, like parking and security outside. Alabama News Network did reach out to the owner, but haven’t heard back.
