High schoolers enrolled in the Montgomery Public Schools Career Academies had a chance to demonstrate their leaning at Eastdale Mall today. Teachers and students of the programs set up booths to talk to other interested kids and their parents about the specialized education programs. The MPS Career Academies offer multiple programs to help prepare students for their careers after graduating high school and college, including everything from law and public safety, to teaching, to information technology.

“The great opportunity,” says Kevon Chesson, an Information Techology instructor at Robert E. Lee High School, “is that even though the students may be zoned for another school, they can still go to the school of their choice that has that appropriate academy.”

The MPS Career Academies also offer “dual enrollment” for students who want to take college classes while they finish high school.
