Council On Substance Abuse Kicks Off “Teen Direct” Resource Line

A new service is starting to provide Montgomery County teenagers information about substance abuse. The Council on Substance Abuse, also known as COSA, is kicking off its new resource line — “Teen Direct” Teens will be able to call the resource to get information on programs and services available to them or ask a trained staff or volunteer specific questions relating to alcohol and drugs. COSA officials say they created the hotline after surveying more than 200 teens in the Montgomery area to find out what topics they wanted more information on. Since we go out to a whole lot of different schools, boys clubs, girls clubs the YMCA they talk to us a lot about issues that they have that are going on. Being that we do focus on substance abuse, we need to get them linked to other resources and being that their youth a lot of times don’t know what’s available to them in the community. The resource line opens Monday for the first time ever. They’ll be open weekdays From 3 pm to 7 pm. Teens can call the resource line next week: 1-844-262-TALK.
