The Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church held a 40th Annual Birthday Celebration

The church where Dr. Martin Luther King junior preached in Montgomery held a celebration in honor of his birthday.

The Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church held a 40th annual birthday celebration for Dr. King today. This year’s theme was “hope for unity in a divided world.”

There were performances from the carver high school gospel choir and the Speaker was reverend Cromwell A. Handy, Pastor of Dexter Avenue baptist church.

Organizers say it’s all about the legacy of Dr. King

“Well this is our moses we’re giving honor to for what he did for all the people..”  says Bobby Jackson.

King was Pastor at dexter avenue from 1954 until 1960.
