From the West Alabama Newsroom– People from all over the country were in Selma celebrating the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday in several different ways.
Crews from ESPN were in Selma working — on the MLK holiday.
The network spent the day talking with people who marched in the Voting Rights Movement in 1965.
Feature producer Sharon Matthews says its part of a special ESPN is producing for Black History Month.
“We’re looking to celebrate those who have paved the way for us and allowed athletes to essentially you know, become trail blazers themselves,” said Matthews.
The life of Dr. King was honored at the annual Selma Links Unity Breakfast.
People also enjoyed two free showings of the ‘Selma’ movie at the Walton Theater.
