ALEA State troopers Rescue Boaters on Tallapoosa River

MONTGOMERY – ALEA State Troopers today, Jan. 21, rescued boaters on the Tallapoosa River. At approximately 2:51 a.m., ALEA Troopers from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Marine Police Division responded to a request for assistance by stranded boaters whose vessel, a 1981 Lowe flat-bottom 16-foot boat, had capsized. The three boaters were bow fishing when their vessel capsized, stranding them on Middle Pond Island, near Martin Dam on the Tallapoosa River. ALEA Troopers reached the boaters, who were not injured, and transported them to safety. Nothing further is available.
