New Era at Perry County Sheriff’s Office

From the West Alabama Newsroom–  There’s a new sheriff in Perry County for the first time in more than three and a half decades.

Tuesday was the first day on the job for new Perry County Sheriff — Billy Jones.

Jones says he’s planning to increase patrols in the county and make a few changes at the jail.

“To improve things. To improve a lot of things that’s already going on, said Jones. “There’s nothing wrong with what’s going on, we’re just going to improve to make things better.”

Jones is replacing long-time sheriff – James Hood — who retired after 36 years in office.
