People in Selma Excited About Presidential Visit

From the West Alabama Newsroom– The 50th anniversary celebration of the Selma Voting Rights Movement promises to be the biggest ever — especially now that President Barack Obama has announced plans to attend.
People in Selma are happy and excited about the presidential visit.
Ronald Smith lives in Selma.
“He holds the highest office in the land and he’s coming back to the place that some ways that is the birthplace of him being where he is today,” said Smith.
Obama is coming to celebrate the right to vote — and commemorate the voting rights history made in Selma in 1965.
According to the White House — President Obama will be in Selma — Saturday, March 7th.
“Well, when I found out about it, I was just — overwhelmed,” said Mayor George Evans.
The Obama visit is part of a year-long celebration in Selma — commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Selma Voting Rights Movement.
