Starting this Sunday, Pike County will be home to the first Burning Bush Cowboy Church in the area.
It’s a baptist based service but with their own flare. The pastor hopes to create a welcoming atmosphere that anyone can attend, that includes not passing around an offering plate to take away any pressure.
The former rodeo team’s complex is being transformed into classrooms and the double wide trailer next to the Cattelmen’s arena is being made into the church.
Volunteers from the Alabama Campers on Mission have volunteered for nearly a month renovating the church.
“They feel comfortable they come as they are. We don’t care how they look, smell, or anything. They come in and they feel comfortable. And while they are here we share the gospel with them and we just have a good time in the Cowboy Church.” says Alvie Walker, pastor Burning Bush Cowboy Church
The first service will be held this Sunday morning at 10:30. The church is located off of U-S Highway 231 South of Troy right next to the Cattlenmen’s Arena.
