Last week a fire broke out at the Byrd-Jackson home. Three children were inside. One made it out with burns while two others died in the blaze.

Thursday evening the community came out to support the family with a candlelight vigil.

“All we can do is give this family support. It’s a troubled time for us too,” said uncle Derry Jackson.

A local pastor led them in prayer saying, “Lifting up the family to You. Be with them, strengthen them, and help them.”

And they sang “This Little Light of Mine” as they remembered 3-year-old Tymothy and one-month old Ty’Leah.

“The good thing is that a lot of people came out to this candlelight. Let them know how much they were loved by people,” said aunt Keisha Rivers.

The parents of the children were not able to attend since they are staying with the third child recovering in Birmingham.
But those that came say they were there to support them.

“It’s heartbreaking thing. You can not understand it unless you’ve lost a child how devastating that can be. But these are great parents. Everything they have done have been for their children,” said the children’s godfather, Marshall Pickard.
