A dead body was found burned near Wares Ferry road in Montgomery Friday afternoon.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s office says it was discovered right next to a set of railroad tracks by CSX railroad employees around 1 o’clock.
When deputies arrived on the scene, they found the charred remains of a man.
Because of the burns, they couldn’t tell what the cause of death, or how long the body had been there.
“Burn injuries do compoud that problem, but it’s very difficult for someone to walk up to a body that has been there for a few hours or a few days, especially this time of year. It’s cold outside,” said Chief Deputy Kevin Murphy.
The Sheriff’s office is still working to identify the body.
