Elderly Woman Hospitalized After Overnight Fire

A 91-year old woman is in critical condition after a fire in Montgomery. The fire broke out about 11:00pm in the 8000 block of Copperfield Drive.
Onetia Barrington was home with her two cats when investigators say the fire started in the back of the home in her sun room, likely sparked from items placed too close to a heating source.
Barrington suffered severe smoke inhalation and was flown to UAB hospital for treatment.
Her two cats were found dead inside the home.
