The city of Selma is getting ready to host its very first Mardi Gras Parade and Festival tomorrow — and city officials are preparing for a huge turnout.
Crews are putting the finishing touches on the preparations for the Mardi Gras events.
The parade will travel down Broad Street — starting at Furniss Avenue and end on Water Avenue.
The festival will start immediately after the parade — at Phoenix Park.
“Its something for all the citizens of Selma and their families and friends to just come out and enjoy Selma’s first Mardi Gras event.” says Temekia Sykes
“Laissez les bon temp roulez – Let the good times roll Selma!” says Shannell Powell.
City officials say they want to try and make the Mardi Gras celebration an annual event.
