A new partnership between Central Alabama Community College and an Italian manufacturer could put students on the way to a brighter career path.
Italian company 2-A Spa is investing in the Alexander City campus. It will work with teachers to craft curriculum based on precision machining.
Company officials will also work with the college to upgrade its facilities and provide paid internships to students at its Auburn factory.
School leaders say it’s another step toward the goal of recruiting high-paying jobs to Alabama.
“Frankly, what we have found is that the new incentive packages for companies, to attract companies, is a qualified, well-trained workforce, and that’s what this is going to produce for this community,” said Chancellor Mark Heinrich.
The classes could begin this fall at Central Alabama Community College.
