Lockheed Martin Announces Job Creation, Partnership with State

Lockheed Martin’s Pike County facility will undergo a major expansion with some help from the state.Â
Â
The governor was at the facility today to announce plans of a $2.5 million state investment to help Lockheed Martin expand. By 2020 the company plans to add an additional 240 employees to the location
.Â
The expansion is fueled by an increase in US and international orders for two missiles that are assembled in Pike County.Â
Â
State leaders say it’s a compliment to the local work force that Lockheed Martin’s making such an investment in it’s current location.Â
Â
Randy O’Neal, MFC Production Operations Vice President said, “People here are incredible. They are fantastic. They come to work, they know what their job is they understand their purpose for being here. Many of them have served or have family members serving in the military so they have a very personal attachment to the job they do, the work they do.”
Â
Lockheed Martin will use the money from the state to kick start things like improvements on entrance security.
Â
The company estimates that it will inject $500 million to the state’s economy between 2014 and 2017.
