From the West Alabama Newsroom– The cost of doing business in the city of Marion has gone up — and some business owners there are not very happy about it.
The city council recently voted to increase the business license fee in an effort to generate more revenue for the city.
Some business owners say their fee has as much as doubled — and say the fee hike will negatively impact their businesses.
Mayor Tony Long says a compromise that helps the city — without hurting businesses — is in the works. He says the deadline to get a business license has been extended until March 15th.
