Meteor Impact Crater Exhibit Opens in Wetumpka
The Kelly Fitzpatrick Memorial Gallery is playing host to a new science exhibit with a local historical twist. The exhibit called “When Dinosaurs Roamed: The Wetumpka Impact Crater” opened on February 20th, and it showcases the scientific research into the meteor that struck the Wetumpka area 85 million years ago.
The exhibit showcases painting, sculptures, fossils, and the scientific research into the meteor strike, which is the only authenticared impact crater in the western United States.
“When Dinosaurs Roamed: The Wetumpka Impact Crater” will be open until April 18th, 2015 at the Kelly Fitzpatrick Memorial Gallery. There are many events schedule during the exhibit’s run, including a lecture by Dr. David King. King discovered the evidence of the Wetumpka meteor strike.
