The daughter of Gov. George Wallace, Peggy Wallace Kennedy, spoke in Montgomery at the 50th anniversary commemoration of the Selma to Montgomery march.

Mrs, Kennedy addressed what had changed since 1965, when her father was the figurehead of the segregationist movement in Alabama and in the nation. Gov. Wallace later apologized for his views.

After her speech, Mrs. Kennedy embraced Bernice King, the daughter of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., providing a symbol of unity that didn’t exist between their fathers a half century ago.
