Troy Police Chief Announces Retirement

One of the top law enforcers in Troy announces he will hang up his badge.Â
Â
Troy Police Chief Jimmy Ennis made the announcement to the council on Tuesday that he will soon be retiring.
Â
He joined Troy’s department in 1985 and was sworn in as chief in 2011.
Â
He says being chief’s been the highlight of his career that’s stretched more than 30 years.Â
Â
He says that’s thanks to the support of the council and the entire police department. And that he continues to be humbled by the councils confidence. “We’ve been able to have good training, good equipment and there’s just no better place that I could have spent the past 30 years,” Chief Ennis said.Â
Â
The chief’s not going anywhere anytime soon. His retirement will be effective October 1st. Before working in Troy Chief Ennis worked as a law enforcement officer in Brantley and Brundidge.Â
