The Alabama Senate has passed a bill to reform the state’s corrections system.

Many of the items in the bill came after talks with the state’s prison reform task force.  Some of the changes would add more parole officers and create a new Class D felony to try keeping low-level drug and property offenders out of prison in order to help ease overcrowding.

The bill now moves on to the house.
