From the West Alabama Newsroom– An anonymous tip concerning the whereabouts of a wanted fugitive leads to a police stand-off and two arrests in Selma.
Police Lt. Curtis Muhannad says a tactical deployment at GWC Homes Wednesday afternoon — ended in the arrest of William Earl Calhoun and Kenyada Dukes — both of Selma.
He says the two men stayed holed up in an apartment for more than an hour before they finally gave up and came out.
Muhannad says they surrendered to police after officers announced they were about to send a K-9 unit into the building.
"Mr. Calhoun was charged with Fugitive-from-justice and Ex-felon-in-possession-of-a-firearm. Mr. Kenyada Dukes was charged with Hindering-the-prosecution-second-degree and Ex-felon-in-possession-of-a-firearm. Also both are having probation and bond revocations occuring as well,” said Muhannad.
Preliminary hearings for both Calhoun and Dukes have been set for May 5th.
