Annual Run for the Reason Raises Money to Fight Cancer

From the West Alabama Newsroom–Â A group of runners is on a 350-mile journey — to help save lives.
The 13th annual Alabama Power — Run for the Reason — is an effort to raise awareness — and money — for the American Cancer Society.
About 18 runners are taking turns to cover the distance from Heflin, Georgia to Dauphin Island.
We caught up with the group in Wilcox County — running along Highway 10. Alabama power employee Debbie Williams is one of the runners.
“Everybody knows somebody that’s been affected by cancer,” said Williams. “If we can get one person to think about going and getting tested, and catching it early, that’s the thing, the key is catching it early and getting that treatment. So, that’s the goal, raising awareness and saving lives.”
The annual Run for the Reason has raised more than $300,000 dollars for the American Cancer Society since it started.
