Ingram intially picked up a Kentucky hat in front of a crowded library at Theodore High School, but just after a few minuted past noon, he placed the Wildcat hat down and sported the logo for the Crimson Tide.

New Alabama coach Avery Johnson succeeded in keeping Mr. Basketball in the state, along with the other two high school prospects who commited to the Crimson Tide under Anthony Grant. Ingram de-commited from Alabama following Grant’s firing on March 15th.

After the ceremony, Ingram said that Kentucky’s coach John Calipari asked him to wait for a scholarship offer. Ingram chose to go ahead and sign with Alabama. A key part in retaining Ingram was Johnson’s choice to keep assistant coach Antoine Pettway on his staff. Pettway had played a big role in recruiting Ingram previously.

Ingram averaged 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists in his senior year at Theodore. He will join two of the state’s other top prospects Donta’ Hall and Brandon Austin in Tuscaloosa.
