Annual Battle of Selma Civil War Reenactment Set to Get Underway

From the West Alabama Newsroom–  It’s history re-created in modern day form. The annual Battle of Selma Civil War Reenactment kicks off this week.

The Battle of Selma features four days filled with events including two Civil War battle re-enactments. It kicks off Thursday morning — with the Living History School Tours.

Organizers with the April 1865 Society say more 1300 reenactors have registered to participate in the battle reenactments.

“We come at the end of a 150th series and there’s been a lot of build up, a lot of books written and you know there’s been more interest in the 150th,” said John Hammonds.
