From the West Alabama Newsroom–  Wallace Community College Selma celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Alabama Community College System — by taking a look back at its past — while keeping an eye on its future.

A time capsule buried at Wallace Community College Selma in 1990 was opened Wednesday morning providing a unique glimpse into the history of the school.

Pictures, pins and other artifacts from the school from 25 years ago were taken out of the time capsule.

“I think it was an amazing experience because of it was 25 years ago,” said WCCS student Alana Hatter. “I wasn’t even born 25 years ago so its really great to see how Wallace has evolved into something so much bigger and greater.”

Students, faculty and staff later packed up a new time capsule of their own — that someone at the college will open — 25 years from now.
