AUM Beats Faulkner for the SSAC Baseball Title

MONTGOMERY, AL — It was an all Montgomery final in the SSAC baseball tournament. And AUM came away with the win over Faulkner.
The cross-town rivals faced each other for the conference crown. AUM jumped out to a huge lead. They were up 8-2 until faulkner got close.
Robert Ilera had a two run shot over the left field wall that cut the lead down to 8-5. Then in the 9th inning, Faulkner’s Cody Sos hits a grounder, and the Warhawks turn it into a 6-3 double play.
“We played good really early,” said AUM baseball coach Marty Lovrich. “We kind of got to the tail end of our season and we were going south a little bit. I told the guys coming into the tournament, we’ve felt like we’ve done enough to possibly get in a regional. We came in here with the idea to win the thing.”
AUM won the conference title 8-5.
