The following story came from the Montgomery Biscuits:
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Biscuits (14-16) got behind early on Sunday afternoon at Riverwalk, and were unable to send the home fans happy on Mothers Day, dropping their third straight game and the series to the Birmingham Barons (15-14), 10-4.
Sunday marked the second straight home series in which the Biscuits had won the first two games, only to lose the next three, and Montgomery now finds itself two games below .500 and facing a formidable ten-game road-trip up north against Tennessee and Chattanooga.
Biscuits starter Bradin Hagens (1-3) was not his best, allowing five consecutive RBI-hits to open up the game. The Barons didn’t know it then, but they’re 5-0 first-inning lead was all they would need.
20-year-old Birmingham starter Tyler Danish (4-0) was fantastic striking out six and allowing only two runs over 5.1 innings. The lone bright spots for the Biscuits included an RBI-double by Richie Shaffer in the first, an RBI-single by Tyler Goeddel in the sixth, and a two-run double by Cameron Seitzer in eighth.
The Biscuits wil hit the road and battle division rivals Tennessee tomorrow night at 6:05 PM with Jaime Schultz (4-0) taking on Jeffry Antigua (0-1).
