A new ordinance in Greenville will impact some landowners’ tax bills.
City leaders the ordinance is all about keeping the city clean.
City officials say the ordinance is aimed to target people who fail to cut their grass and clean up their yard. They say if landowners fail to clean, stiff penalties are now in place.
In the past, the city would cut the grass for the owner and bill them for the service. The problem was that many landowners weren’t paying.
Now, after cleaning up the property, a landowner who doesn’t pay will get the cost added to their property taxes and could end up in court.
