A crowd in Pike County gathers to honor fallen law enforcement officers.
Troy Police held the 37th annual police memorial ceremony. The department’s lost five officers in more than 100 years.
Family and friends of the deceased, as well as community members and leaders, and first responders from across the county attended the service. They say it’s a memorial to reflect and honor the fallen’s lives, during an especially difficult time.
Jimmy Ennis, Troy Police Chief said, “Things are not getting any better in this day and time. Very dangerous, as you just seen over in Mississippi in Hattiesburg, where they lost two on one traffic stop. So it’s a dangerous job, it takes a special person to do it.”
Of the 44 line of duty deaths this year, four have been Alabama officers.
