Bill Cosby Promotes the Importance of Education in Selma

From the West Alabama Newsroom–  Actor and Comedian Bill Cosby wrapped up a two-day visit to Alabama — Friday afternoon in Selma.

Cosby’s visit was part of an effort by the Black Belt community Foundation to push for better education — and more resources for students in the Black Belt.

Cosby spoke to students at Selma High School this afternoon — then took part in a march across the historic Edmund Pettus Bridge.

“Education is extremely important and having Dr. Cosby here today helps to really promote that message with our youth,” said BBCF President Felecia Lucky. “Often times it takes a different voice for them to understand the message that sometimes parents and teachers are trying to get across.”

Students from Lowndes, Perry and Wilcox counties — also took part in the events.
