From the West Alabama Newsroom–  A community partnership in Selma is working to help shape the area’s leaders of tomorrow and strengthen the relationship between police and the community.

Selma Police and the Boy Scouts of America are teaming up to hold a Youth Leadership Camp this summer for boys and girls — age 12 to 15.

Activities at the camp will build individual and team leadership skills. Campers will also learn about conflict resolution, how to resists gangs and drugs and how to interact with police.

“Because in this day and time of course you know we want police to be seen not as just someone who’ll give you a ticket or lock you up,” said Selma Police Chief Wiliam Riley.

The Youth Leadership Camp is June 29th through July 3rd. For more information call (334) 874-5261.
