the city of Montgomery is revamping its animal control program.
Starting in June, it will pay the Montgomery County Humane Society to perform those services, bringing all animal control and adoption issues under one agency.
The city will pay $330,000 a year.
Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange says it will save the city some money and consolidate animal control and adoption services.
“Now it’s a one stop for all animal control for the entire county. You don’t have issues of wild animals versus domestic animals. You’ve got now a cadre of county and city people under the shelter that can go both ways, as opposed to having defined territories,” Mayor Strange said Friday.
There will now be one number you can call to reach animal control officers and the county shelter.
That number is (334) 409-0622.
