Six dogs are stolen out of the Bullock County Humane Society Animal Shelter last month. Five are now safe and the community’s stepped up to make sure break-ins don’t continue.

Shelter leaders raised $3,000 for new security measures. Four security cameras and a high-tech system were installed. Also, a new fence with barbed wire now encloses all of the kennels.

More than 60 people donated from across the country, even as far away as Alaska. Rescuers say the added security is also helping the design of the shelter.  Jennifer Gallagher, Bullock Co. Humane Society Animal Shelter Manager said, “It also gives us three large large play yards and when the dogs are exercised and trained and happy, it makes them more adoptable. So ideally, just those fenced yards alone will shorten their stay here.”

One of the dogs that was stolen and then found still needs a home. For more information on adopting find the Bullock County Humane Society on Facebook or give them a call (334) 738-7387.
